The Exam

OET tests international health practitioners in the following 12 professions:

OET is recognised and trusted by more than 40 regulatory healthcare bodies and councils in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Dubai, Namibia, Ukraine, UK (NMC and GMC) and Ireland (NMBI and MC). Many organisations, including hospitals, universities and colleges, are using OET as proof of a candidate’s ability to communicate effectively in a demanding healthcare environment. In addition, OET is recognised by the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection for a number of visa categories, including work and student visas.

Exam Registration

To register for the OET exam at Eurocentres London Eltham, please click here. Please follow these steps:
1) On the OET home page click “Apply”.
2) After reading the OET Test Regulations and T&C and checking all the registration requirements, click “Apply for the test”.
3) On the 
Candidate Portal, click “Register”.
4) After finalising a 4-step registration, you can click on “Login.”
5) You will go through another 4-step registration that allows you to choose the Eurocentres London Eltham as the venue where you prefer to take your exam.

The three written tests will take approximately 3 hours. In addition, a 20 minute speaking test is also scheduled on the same day. The test is available once a month, 12 times a year.

Results are published online approximately 16 business days after each test day. Official copies of Statements of Results can be downloaded from your online profile. You can choose which test administration you wish to download a Statement of Results for and this will list the scores you obtained in that particular test administration

OET is an international English language test that assesses the language communication skills of healthcare professionals who seek to register and practise in an English-speaking environment. OET covers all four language skills with an emphasis on communication in a healthcare environment.

Same content for all healthcare professions. Follow and understand a range of health-related spoken materials such as patient consultations and lectures.

Read and understand different types of text on health-related subjects.

Specific to profession, based on typical workplace situations. The task is to write a letter, usually a referral letter. Sometimes, especially for some professions, a different type of letter is required: e.g. a letter of transfer or discharge, or a letter to advise or inform a patient, carer, or group.

Specific to profession, based on typical workplace situations. In a private room you will take part in two role-plays. You take your professional role (as a healthcare professional) while the interlocutor plays a patient or client, or sometimes a relative or carer.

Courses must be viable in order to run and may be cancelled or shortened by the Eurocentres if minimum numbers are not met. This part time preparation course will familiarise you with the essentials of the Occupational English Test (OET) to help you maximise your score and achieve Grade B in all four papers of the test. Live group classes are supported with focused online assignments, including practice of exam tasks in each skill area to get you ready for the test.
